(a) Clonogenic assay. Radiation-mediated changes in the percentage survival of cells. Cells were exposed to increasing doses of radiation and clonogenic efficacy of NKE cells, NUB cells, HEK 293 cells, NKE ρ° cells, ACHN cells, A498 cells was measured as described in the methods section. After incubation visible colonies were counted and surviving fraction was calculated with respect to control. Results are expressed as the percentage of cells surviving after treatment with respect to the control ±SD of three independent experiments. p < 0.05 was considered as level of significance. (b) Sulforhodamine B uptake Assay. Effect of pre-irradiation treatment of mannan on cells [NKE cells, NUB cells, HEK 293 cells, NKE ρ° cells, ACHN cells, A498 cells] was measured by using SRB uptake assay 96 h post radiation exposure (as described in materials and methods section). Results are expressed as cell proliferation (fold changes) with respect to control ±SD of three independent experiments. Differences were designated significant at values, ***p < 0.001 and were labeled as # compared with the sham irradiated control group, * compared with the 3 Gy (radiation only) group
